I’ve injured my foot a while ago and I could barely walk and stayed inside for a week. Now that it’s better I decided to put on my wood watch and take you guys on a day out in my own city and show you cool places to enjoy an autumn day.
October is one of my favorite months, with the leaves fading into the lovely fall colors, the sun hiding behind it and fresh air filling the lungs. It’s not terribly cold yet, but great to wear warm coats. It’s all about coziness and I like to embrace that.
So let’s go!
Putting on my wood watch
After getting up, having a quick breakfast and getting ready… I finish of my fall look with my wood watch.
Yes wood… quite unique isn’t it? JORD wood watches are handcrafted from natural woods such as Bamboo, Rosewood, Walnut, Koa, Maple, Zebrawood, and the one that I chose Sandalwood.
Reasons why I love JORD watches and so will you:
- They focus on sustainable materials and are true to their mission of quality and craftsmanship.
- The glass is made of Sapphire glass, which is a synthetic crystal rather than actual glass. This means it’s second only to diamond as the hardest and most scratch resistant materials on earth. Sapphire glass is also known for its high modulus of elasticity and tensile strength. All together you have a scratch free and impact resistant super glass.
- They value efficiency, something that I do too! Putting on a Jord watch is so easy! And you can be sure it will fit perfectly as they ask for your wrist size before shipping.
- Last but not least: The watch box is so pretty, completely out of wood as well. It comes with a small guide to your watch, small tools to adjust if necessary and a special wood liquid and cloth to take care of your watch so it always looks good!
Ps: My watch is the Frankie Dark Sandalwood and Smoke. I love the dark color with rose gold finishing touches.
Into the old town and het Steen
So after admiring the watch for a bit, it is time for a walk into the old part of Antwerp. I live really close by the Groenplaats Square where you can find our famous Cathedral with one tower. The trees were already colored red on the square.
If you feel like doing some shopping you can follow the Meir, our shopping street. If you do, don’t forget to enter the Stadsfeestzaal. A beautiful golden decorated room filled with about 40 stores. Here you can also find good Belgian chocolates, MoMade cupcakes, Bubble tea, Flying Tiger and Action, Sushi, a big supermarket and many other stores!
Antwerp has an old castle by the water. We call it het Steen, or “the Rock”. With many trees in front of the castle, it is one of my favorite spots to sit in autumn times.
Next to the castle is where you can get boats for a cruise on the river Schelde. Or you can do what my friends and I like to do and chill at the floating water platform.
Brunch at Maurice Coffee Bar
I love Maurice! They must be one of the popular coffee shops in Antwerp and when you enter you will know why. It is located in the big KBC bank building, but they made the interior super cozy with their chairs, tables, sofas and their own knitwear.
We chose for lunch:
Drinks: Matcha latte, iced latte and home made lemonade
Food: an omelet, Egg benedict (salmon with herbs, cream cheese and a poached egg) and off course a Belgian waffle. This one is a bit special with rose water and yoghurt instead of whip cream.
A walk in the park… with donuts
My friends were all talking about the new donut shop in town “Donutello” so I had to try it. As we were full with brunch, we decided to take it with us for our walk in the park.
Antwerp has several parks. The one in the city center is the City Park or Stadspark in Dutch. It was still a bit green for autumn times, but many leaves were on the ground already!
So we grabbed the donuts and walked around the park in search for that one spot to sit and enjoy eating it.
The perfect finisher of a lovely afternoon… finding the perfect spot just before the sun starts to set and finally eating the delicious donuts! Can you guess their taste?
Ps: we had: Banana, Orange, Pink filled with strawberry, Fully covered with chocolate, Pistachio and Coconut/hazelnut!
What to see after Antwerp? When in Belgium you should go to Bruges! Here 5 things you need to visit in Bruges.
